Miles follow the journey you actually take.
Planning distance is an estimate. Usage comes from accepted recorded travel, including detours, plus a late-start estimate you explicitly confirm for an unrecorded origin-to-start segment. Future route edits do not use miles.
10,000 statute miles = 16,093.44 km. Kilometers are a display conversion; capacity is sold in statute miles.
